Queen’s Gaels celebrate a winning weekend

With six teams playing, the Queen’s Gaels have a lot to celebrate, as all teams were victorious over the weekend from Friday, Jan. 10 to Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020.
The Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Hockey teams all brought home weekend wins, not the least of which was the Men’s Basketball victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. At home at the ARC, Quinton Gray (No. 7) dropped 40 on the visiting Thunderbirds. The Gaels went on to defeat Algoma 89-62 following the 40 point effort from Gray, who becomes the third Queen’s player to hit the 40 mark.
But it wasn’t just Gray and the Men’s Basketball team giving Queen’s University reason to celebrate. Below are all this past weekend’s Gaels’ happenings via Queen’s Athletics, outlining a winning weekend for the Gaels.
MEN’S BASKETBALL – Gray drops 40 on Algoma joining Faulkner and Smart as only Queen’s players to hit 40 mark
KINGSTON, Ont. (January 11, 2020) – The Queen’s Gaels (8-4) defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds (2-10) 89-62 on Saturday night at the ARC – Main Gym behind a 40 point effort from Quinton Gray.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Chadwick and de Goede double-doubles lead No.7 Gaels over Algoma
KINGSTON, Ont. (January 11, 2020) – The No. 7 nationally-ranked Queen’s Women’s Basketball team (8-4) defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds (2-10) 84-34 on Saturday night at the ARC – Main Gym.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Gaels take first win of the New Year on home court, sweep weekend Kingston Ont. (January 12, 2020)- The Queen’s Gaels (7-3) won in straight sets on their home court for the first time this year against the RMC Paladins (1-8) in OUA women’s volleyball action.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Hutcheson, Siksna lead No.8 Gaels past Paladins in 2-0 weekend
KINGSTON, Ont. (January 12, 2020)- The No.8 Queen’s Gaels (6-3) took their first home court win of the year, dominating the RMC Paladins (1-8) in straight sets at the Queen’s ARC.

MEN’S HOCKEY – Gaels salvage week with win at Nipissing NORTH BAY, Ont. (January 12, 2020) – Jaren Burke added a goal and assist in the Queen’s Gaels (8-11-0-1) victory over the Nipissing Lakers (7-12-1-2) on Sunday.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY – Arsenault stops 17 in shutout win at Guelph, Gaels split weekend road trip GUELPH, Ont. (January 11, 2020) – It was an afternoon affair in Guelph on Saturday afternoon as the Queen’s Gaels (9-6-1-1) picked up a 2-0 shutout road victory over the Guelph Gryphons (7-5-1-2) in OUA women’s hockey action.
