Princess Street Promenade is back for its second iteration of 2023, this time offering live music, fun activities for all ages, and the thing Princess Street is known for in the downtown core: an array of shopping and dining options.

Taking place Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, Princess Street Promenade will feature over 100 businesses and community groups fille the main street, creating a pedestrian-friendly Princess Street between Division and Ontario Streets. Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the day will offer “shopping, games, giveaways, food, and more,” according to the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area (BIA), the organization behind the event.

The BIA offered a “sneak peek” of what Kingstonians will find at this edition of Promenade:

  • Meet baby alpacas from online viral sensation, The Useless Farm, based out of Hartington, South Frontenac Township
  • Enjoy board games, life-size Jenga, and interactive robots
  • Engage in arts and crafts on a renovated school bus
  • Unleash your creativity with DIY Denim customization
  • Donate clothes to enter a draw to win a $100 shopping voucher
  • Savour delicious food samples from some of Kingston’s best restaurants
  • Stand a chance to win fantastic prizes, including a guitar and a trip to iHeartRadio Festival.
  • Take advantage of amazing sales with up to 50 per cent off on several stores
  • Take in some live music from ‘Ambush’ and ‘Elvis The King’

“We encourage visitors to choose alternative transportation options like biking or public transit. If you prefer driving, Hanson Memorial Garage has over 290 spots available. Street parking or off-street parking lots are also good options,” the BIA said in a press release, noting that Ontario Street will be closed between Brock and Johnson Streets for the 1000 Islands Kingston Poker Run.

“Mark your calendars and join us at Princess St Promenade! Whether you’re seeking fun, great deals, or a memorable day out, Downtown Kingston has it all for you.”
