Princess Street closed after collision involving pedestrian

Kingston Police have closed a section of Princess Street from Portsmouth Avenue to Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard after a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jun. 19, 2024, the collision took place near Hillendale Avenue. Kingston Police shared minimal details about the collision on social media shortly before 2:30, noting that the roadway was closed.

“There has been a serious motor vehicle collision on Princess St east of Portsmouth Ave. Motorists are asked to avoid the area of Princess Street between Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd and Portsmouth Ave. Please find an alternative route for your commute,” police detailed.

Approximately an hour later, police confirmed, also on social media, that a pedestrian was involved and transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

“Princess between Portsmouth and Sir John A. will remain closed to vehicular traffic as the investigation continues. Please expect significant delays,” Kingston Police stated.
