University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) announced today that the first annual Power of Hope Golf Tournament raised $94,000 for local prostate cancer care.

“The first annual Power of Hope Golf Tournament was a tremendous success!” said Mike Laframboise, Tournament Chair. “With the support of many donors, the great group of volunteers and a full field of golfers, we were able to raise $94,000, which will be used in the fight against prostate cancer in Kingston. We are looking forward to our second annual tournament next year on August 29, 2022.”

Raising funds, awareness, and hope for men’s health in the region, the Power of Hope Golf Tournament welcomed a little over 100 participants on August 30, 2021, according to a release from UHKF, dated Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Power of Hope committee, sponsors and donors. We are looking forward to next year’s golf tournament,” said Wayne Owens, Board Chair at the UHKF. “This generous gift will allow our hospital to advance prostate cancer care, benefitting the patients, families and caregivers in our region.”

UHKF is the charitable foundation supporting Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care. They raise funds for healthcare facilities, programs, equipment, education and research that benefit the 500,000 people living in Kingston, southeastern Ontario, and beyond.
