Potential COVID-19 contact sees two LDSB class cohorts isolating

Potential contact with the contacts of a positive COVID-19 case has KFL&A Public Health ordering the dismissal of two class cohorts and two bus cohorts.
The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) sent out a media release on Friday, Mar. 26, 2021, stating that one class cohort and Bus 154 from Bath Public School and one class cohort from Ernestown Secondary School and Bus 158 serving Ernestown SS and Odessa Public School have been asked to self-isolate until further notice due to this potential second-hand exposure.
Because COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOC) are now in our community and can spread more easily, Public Health is taking additional precautions to help reduce spread, LDSB said in the release. Further assessment is being done before determining how long students and staff will need to self-isolate. Public Health will provide affected families with an update as soon as possible.
According to the release, all members of the school community have been notified and have been provided with direction from Public Health. KFL&A Public Health is working with the school to identify cohorts of students and staff who may be at risk of COVID-19 from this exposure. Not all students will be affected by this situation.
KFL&A Public Health, the schools and board are taking all necessary steps to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community. Everyone should continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and screen students daily as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting.
