An individual at John XXIII Catholic School has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB).

The Board announced that the case had been detected, and that Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) Public Health has been notified of the case, on Thursday, Apr. 15, 2021. The notice to families within the John XXII school community notes that COVID-19 variants of concern are now in the community and can spread more easily, requiring extra caution to help reduce the spread of the virus.

The situation is requiring students at the school self-isolate as Public Health carries out investigation and contact tracing.

“Everyone who attended or worked at John XXIII Catholic School on April 6 to April 9, 2021 must self-isolate until you hear otherwise. KFL&A Public Health will send more messaging after an additional investigation has been done. This investigation will take 48 to 72 hours,” the ALCDSB said.

The Board indicated that families should check the School Messenger for communications from Public Health.
