A positive case of COVID-19 has been identified at Canada Royal Milk, the baby formula processing plant at 1680 Venture Drive, in Kingston’s west end.

“Canada Royal Milk has learned that one of our employees has tested positive for COVID-19,” said a letter to plant staff, made available to Kingstonist. “KFL&A Public Health is working with (the company) to identify all staff who may have been in close contact with the COVID-19 positive person.” According to guidance from KFL&A Public Health, the company stated, not all staff will be affected by the positive case.

“In the days prior to the diagnosis, this employee worked primarily in the administration part of the plant,” the letter to employees stated. “Our first concern is for the health and wellness of our employee and their household.”

According to the company’s letter, all employees who had contact with the positive case were sent home immediately to self-isolate and await further instructions. “Staff who worked in the same area of the building are deemed to be low risk contacts,” said the letter. “The workspaces in the administration areas are being thoroughly disinfected. Our facilities team cleans shared spaces and disinfects high-tough surfaces multiple times each day with COVID-19 approved cleaning products.”
