#ygkChallenge: Marine Museum Development
The #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:
Give your input. The City is looking for public feedback on the proposed 25-storey residential building on the land at 5 Lower Union St. The project, set forth by developer Patry Inc. will also re-purpose the existing Marine Museum property at 55 Ontario St. for residential, commercial or community use. The city’s planning committee is holding its next meeting on Thursday, September 21st at 6:30pm at Kingston City Hall and they are looking for community members to come and voice their opinions about the project. This week, we encourage you to learn more about this proposal and take the time to attend the meeting, write a letter or perhaps even speak. Interested speakers can register as a delegation at the door when they arrive at the meeting or with the committee clerk ahead of time. Each delegation is allowed five minutes to speak. Written submissions can be sent ahead of time to [email protected]. Whether you are for or against the proposal, it is important for us all to make our voices heard!
Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
