Police warn of potential roadway hazards caused by thefts

Kingston Police are investigating following the thefts of batteries from construction sign trailers throughout the city.
The signs are used to notify the public of traffic accidents, construction zones, and other pertinent information for drivers. Once the batteries are removed, the signs become inoperable, which could potential create danger to the public.
Suspects may be using tools to complete these thefts, Kingston Police said in a press release on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. Anyone who sees people around these types of signs is asked to call Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. 0.
Tips can also be provided anonymously by calling the Kingston Police general number (613-549-4660 ext. 0) and asking to be anonymous, or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
