Police seize firearms and ammunition in Central Frontenac

Multiple firearms – some stolen – and copious amounts of ammunition have been seized by police after the execution of a search warrant in the Sharbot Lake area of Central Frontenac Township.
According to the Frontenac County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team executed the search warrant on Wednesday, Jun 21, 2023, at a residence on Queen Street in Arden, which is located west of Sharbot Lake, just south of Highway 7. The warrant was executed with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, and the Frontenac OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit.
During the execution of the warrant, police seized six firearms – including three stolen long guns – along with “approximately 1,000 rounds of ammunition,” the Frontenac OPP said in a press release on Friday, Jun. 23, 2023.
As a result, 44-year-old Tina Kellar and 45-year-old Jeremy Teeple, both residents of Central Frontenac Township, have been charged with:
- Six counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Six counts of breach of firearms regulation (carless storage)
- Two counts of possession of a firearm knowing it had been obtained by the commission of an offence
Both accused parties are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sharbot Lake in early August 2023.
The Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team is dedicated to reducing the number of illegal firearms in our communities, the OPP said.
