Police request assistance to identify person of interest in west end theft

Kingston Police have released the above photo and are asking for public assistance in identifying a person of interest after an envelope of money was taken from a west end store.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, when the male victim attended the store. As the victim was trying on clothing in one of the aisles, an envelope containing a large sum of money fell out of the victim’s pocket. The victim left the store without realizing accidentally dropped the envelope.

When the victim discovered the envelope was missing, he returned to the store, where management reviewed security video. The video showed the envelope falling from the victim’s pocket, and then an unknown male walked by and kicked it. The male returned shortly after and retrieved the envelope from the floor. He then paid for merchandise and left the store with the envelope.

The person of interest is described as being a Caucasian male with a heavy set build and a goatee. He was last seen on security footage leaving the store parking lot in a white Chevrolet pickup truck with a Quebec licence plate.
