Police report two incidents of domestic assault over the weekend
A Kingston woman was arrested Friday after threatening her boyfriend with knives.
According to Kingston Police, the woman had an argument with her boyfriend, the victim, at her downtown Kingston residence on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020 at approximately 3:55 p.m. Police report that the two fought about another man coming to her residence who owed her money, and whom she had told the victim would not come over.
Police say the victim asked her why she continued to let this individual take advantage of her. According to police, she then became irate and physically aggressive towards the victim. The victim attempted to leave the residence at which time she allegedly picked up two large knives from the kitchen and wielded them threateningly toward him.
Police say they responded after receiving a call from a passerby who heard the commotion. After further investigation police arrested the woman at approximately 4:20 p.m. She was transported to police headquarters where she was later released on conditions with a future court date.
A 22-year-old woman was charged with assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
Male charged with assaulting girlfriend and threatening to kill her
Police responded to a second domestic violence incident on Monday, August 10, 2020 at approximately 12:05 a.m. Police say a physical altercation occurred between a man and his girlfriend, the female victim, at a downtown Kingston hotel.
Hotel employees had reportedly witnessed the man assaulting the victim, pushing her up against a wall in the lobby after following her downstairs from a hotel room. He allegedly then began punching and kneeing the victim as he tried to take a cell phone from her, which she was forced to give up.
Police say the two then went upstairs to their room briefly before returning with their young child. The physical fighting reportedly continued in the lobby with the woman being assaulted while still holding on to her child. The accused had reportedly also threatened to kill the victim in front of employees at the hotel.
Police say they responded and located and arrested the accused at approximately 12:20 a.m. in the second floor hallway of the hotel.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.
A 27-year-old local man was charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death.
