Kingston Police are reminding the public not to leave their garage door openers in plain sight after a number of break-ins have occurred in the city where garage door openers were used.

Detectives working in the area of property crimes are currently investigating multiple incidents of break-ins that occurred this way, according to a press release from Kingston Police.

Police advise residents not to leave their garage door openers in their vehicles in places where they are visible.

“Thieves will take it from your car and use it to gain access to your garage or your home,” Kingston Police said.

“If anyone has their opener stolen, it is advisable to either unplug the opener and/or have the code/signal changed.”
