Police recover body from Anglin Bay

Kingston Police, Kingston Fire and Rescue, and the Ontario Provincial Police were all on scene at the end of Wellington Street on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 after receiving a report of a body in the water.

Kingston Police were dispatched to the area of Wellington Street at Bay Street for the report at approximately 4:15 p.m. In the area alongside MetalCraft Marine, officers with Kingston Police, along with those from Kingston Fire and Rescue, recovered the body of the deceased from the water of Anglin Bay, according to Constable Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police. The body was recovered at approximately 5 p.m.

“Our Major Crime Unit is attending and the investigation is continuing,” Gutheinz said.

The identity of the deceased has not been determined/released at this time. It is unclear whether or not the recovered body is in relation to a search for a person who may have fallen through the ice, which occurred in late December 2020.
