Police investigating after person located deceased at downtown Kingston hotel

A police presence appeared on Ontario Street at Brock Street in downtown Kingston after a person was located deceased at Confederation Place Hotel.

A Kingston Police cruiser and Forensic Identification Unit truck attended the waterfront hotel just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jul. 12, 2023. According to Constable Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer with Kingston Police, “there is an ongoing investigation in regards to a deceased party at this location.”

“Kingston Police are working in conjunction with the coroner’s office to determine a cause of death,” Gutheinz said in response to Kingstonist inquiries.

Asked whether police believe foul play may have been involved in the death, Gutheinz said that Kingston Police “do not have any further information to provide at this time… as the investigation continues.”
