Police: four men arrested for domestic abuse in one day

For the second time in as many days, Kingston Police have made four arrests over the course of 24 hours in relation to domestic violence and abuse.
From 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, to 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, the local police responded to seven calls related to domestic disturbances, two calls regarding harassment, and 1 call reporting a sexual assault. As a result of the domestic calls for service, four local men have been arrested.
The first case was began in April of this year when the victim and the accused man ended their relationship and the man moved out of their shared residence. The victim began received repeated, unwanted text messages from the man, and, after being contacted by the victim, Kingston Police warned the man he should stop. The unwanted texts resumed in early June, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of the accused male.
Five months later, on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the accused man was arrested by an Ontario Provincial Police officer, who transported the man to Kingston Police Headquarters, where he was later released with a future court date.
The 33-year-old Kingston man is charged with harassment by repeated communication.
The second case started for police on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, but for the victim, it began much earlier.
The victim attended Kingston Police Headquarters on November 7 to report the details of multiple incidents of domestic abuse, according to a press release from Kingston Police.
The ensuing investigation found that assaults and threats had occurred between July and November of this year. In July, when the couple were arguing outside the victim’s residence, the accused man pushed her, causing her for fall and strike her head on the sidewalk. Then, in November, the accused man threatened that, if the victim contacted her ex, he would travel out of province in order to find and kill the ex before returning to kill her. Additionally, police discovered that, during a “minor scuffle” over a cellphone in November, the accused man had been aggressive enough to cause injury to the victim’s wrist.
At approximately 10 p.m. the same day, police attended the accused’s residence and arrested him without incident. The 27-year-old Kingston man is charged with two counts of assault, uttering threats to cause death, and harassment by threatening conduct to another person.
The third case occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, when the victim and the accused began arguing at the west end motel they were staying at. Over the course of the argument, the accused man threw coffee at the victim, and then whipped her with an electrical cord when she tried to force him to leave. The victim called the police, and officers observed injuries to the victim resulting from being hit with a cord, and the accused man was arrested.
The 39-year-old Kingston man is charged with assault.
The final case saw police called to a common law couple’s west end home at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018.
At that time, the victim had confronted her boyfriend about playing loud music while she was trying to sleep. The accused man then walked into the bedroom and punched the victim in the hip before dragging her out of bed and throwing her on the floor. The man then started smashing items in the bedroom.
Neighbours contacted Kingston Police to report the disturbance. When police arrived at the address, the altercation had ended, but when officers spoke to both parties, they learned of an incident that had occurred the weekend before. At that time, during one of several disputes, the accused man held a knife to the victim’s throat and wrists. The accused man was arrested.
The 54-year-old Kingston man is charged with assault with a weapon and assault.
