Police: Dangerous driver found to be impaired by drug

A woman driving erratically in Kingston’s west end has been arrested and charged by Kingston Police.

On Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, the accused woman was seen swerving between lanes on Taylor Kidd Boulevard at approximately 11:35 a.m. The swerving nearly caused a head-on collision, according to a press release from Kingston Police. The incident was called into police, and a responding officer located the accused woman as she was driving over residential lawns while turning off of Boxwood Street onto Lombard Street. The woman then drove over more lawns while pulling into a driveway.

The officer on the scene made several observations that the accused woman was impaired. The woman was arrested and taken to Kingston Police Headquarters where further investigation found suspected impairment by drug.

The 50-year-old Kingston woman was charged with impaired driving by drug and later released with a future court date. Her driver’s license was automatically suspended for 90 days and she will face a one-year suspension if convicted. Additionally, the vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused woman being responsible for all related fees and fines.
