Planned power outage for University District tomorrow

Those living in the University District in downtown Kingston should plan for a five-hour power outage tomorrow while crews take care of tree trimming, according to Utilities Kingston.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, a total of 197 Utilities Kingston customers in the University District will be affected by the outage, which will begin at 9 a.m. According to Utilities Kingston, the following areas will be affected:
- MacDonnell Street between Union Street and Hill Street
- Union Street between Ellerbeck Street and Kensington Avenue
- Centre Street
- Edgehill Street
- Collingwood Street south of Union Street
- Queen’s Crescent
- King Street West between Albert Street and Lower University Avenue
Although customers on Willingdon Avenue and Hillcroft Drive had previously been part of the planned outage, they are no longer affected by this outage, Utilities Kingston said in a press release.
“This power outage is necessary for workers to conduct tree trimming around the high voltage overhead lines in your area, on behalf of your electricity distributor, Kingston Hydro Corporation,” Utilities Kingston said.
“We apologize for any inconvenience. This work helps to ensure a reliable source of electricity to you, our customers.”
