Picton disturbance allows OPP to locate suspect in domestic assault

A disturbance on Picton Main Street led members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County Detachment to locate a suspect in a past domestic assault occurrence.

OPP were called to the disturbance just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, where officers conducted further investigation, according to a release from OPP. Officers discovered the suspect was wanted in relation to a domestic assault occurrence that took place in the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021.

The individual was located on Elk Street arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm
  • Causing a disturbance

The accused was released on an undertaking and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, OPP said.
