Pete Petersen Basketball League runs successful registration day for 2023-2024 season

The Pete Petersen Basketball League held another successful registration day for the 2023-24 season, its 68th season, this Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023.
The registration day for the popular league, which took place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Rideau Heights, saw dozens of families excitedly line up for several hours before registration opened up at 9 a.m.
The league, which has 38 teams in five divisions and is open to boys 8-15 and girls 8-14, kept its season-long registration cost at only $10. The league maintained its long-standing “in-person registration only” policy, saying the rule ensures everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has an equal opportunity to register. “Having in person, first come, first served registration equalizes the opportunity for everyone in the community. We allow someone else to register your child as long as you make those arrangements as a concession to those that may need to be unavailable at registration time due to work or other commitments,” the league explained.
By Saturday evening, nearly all league divisions were full, said Roland Billings, League President. “We still have about 20 places left in the Little Gals Division, with all others full. Anyone wishing to register a child for the Little Gals Division may do so by contacting the League via Facebook Messenger here.
