Perth Road fire results in $150k in damages, no injuries

The quick response by Kingston Fire & Rescue (KFR) crews limited the damage to a home in the 2400 block of Perth Road on the afternoon of Tuesday, Apr. 4, 2023.
In a statement, KFR said they responded to the rural Kingston structure fire at around 1:30 p.m and that, on arrival, they encountered heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the garage area of the home.

“Call came in this afternoon. First arriving crews encountered heavy smoke and flame; we got water on it fairly quickly – the first crew did a great job of knocking it down, containing the fire mainly to the garage with a bit of smoke damage to the main house,” District Fire Chief Carscallen told Kingstonist.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, the fire is not considered suspicious, KFR said.
Perth Road was closed in the vicinity of Unity Road by Kingston Police for several hours while fire crews attended the scene.

No occupants suffered any injuries in the fire. Damage to the home is estimated at a value of about $150,000.00.
