Commuters may have caught the tail end of a road closure this morning after a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Patrick and Railway Streets.

Just after 6 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 11, 2024, Kingston Police were called to the scene of the collision.

“The call came in at 6:03 a.m. and occurred on Railway St at the T-intersection with Patrick St. A white Chevrolet Silverado pickup struck a 35-year-old local male pedestrian, causing serious injuries. He was transported to hospital via paramedics to receive urgent medical care,” Kingston Police shared in an email with Kingstonist.

The roadway was closed while collision reconstructionists in the Traffic Safety Unit attended and processed the scene, police relayed. The truck was seized for further inspection, and the roadway was reopened at approximately 8:50 a.m.

“As it’s still an active and ongoing investigation we can’t speak at this time to fault or charges between either the driver or pedestrian,” police concluded.

Kingstonist will provide updated coverage of this matter if/when more information becomes available.
