Pedestrian struck and killed on 401 over the weekend

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 401 near Marysville over the weekend.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 16, 2020, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call on the Highway 401 eastbound lanes near Marysville.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators, along with the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FIS) are assisting in the investigation.

The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed, and the investigation is continuing with assistance from the Office of the Regional Coroner.

The OPP wants to hear from anyone who may have been passing through the area at the time who may have witnessed anything or even have dashcam video. Please call the L&A OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The eastbound 401 lanes have since re-opened.
