Pedestrian in hospital after being struck by Kingston Transit bus

The busy area of King Street West at Union Street in Portsmouth Village remains closed to traffic after a pedestrian was struck by a bus at the intersection.
At approximately 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, a female pedestrian was struck by the Kingston Transit bus, which had been travelling eastbound on King Street West and making a left turn onto Union Street, according to Sgt. Steve Koopman, Supervisor of the Traffic Safety Unit for Kingston Police.
“There was a middle-aged-to-senior-citizen female that was struck ,and she has been transferred to hospital with serious to life-threatening injuries,” Koopman said on the scene.
Koopman did not say whether any charges have been laid, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The roadways were immediately closed to traffic following the incident, and remained closed as of 2:45 p.m. as police investigate the incident. Motorists are asked to avoid the area at this time, and police noted the roadway will remain closed until at least 5 p.m.
