Pedestrian deceased after being struck by transport on 401 near Kingston

Officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to investigate a fatal collision involving a transport truck and a pedestrian on the 401 near Kingston on Sunday night.
“On October 9, 2022, just before 10:00 p.m., officers responded to a collision westbound on Highway 401, Kingston, where a pedestrian had been fatally struck by a transport truck,” OPP confirmed in a press release.
According to OPP, the 52-year-old from Kingston was pronounced deceased at the scene. OPP have not identified the individual at this time.
“Frontenac OPP continues to investigate with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Reconstructionist. It is not clear why the pedestrian was on the highway,” OPP said.
The westbound lanes were closed until just before 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning while OPP investigated.
