Parking lot collision in Napanee leads to impaired driving charges

A Napanee driver is facing charges after the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle collision in a parking lot in Greater Napanee.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 10, 2023, OPP officers responded to the scene of the collision in a parking lot by Centre Street North and Alkenbrack Street in Greater Napanee.
According to a release from the OPP, officers located the vehicle, determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment and administered an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for processing.
As a result, Wayne Roberts, 59 years old, of Greater Napanee, was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol and drug
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration of over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood
Roberts was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in May 2023. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Roberts will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
