CSC seize package delivered over the walls at Collins Bay Institution

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is crediting “the vigilance of staff members” after a package containing contraband was seized at Collins Bay Institution.

According to the CSC, a package entered the facility through an “unmanned air vehicle” and the package was seized by staff at approximately 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020. The contraband seized included:

  • marijuana,
  • shatter,
  • hash,
  • Xanax, and
  • an unknown powder that was suspected to be Fentanyl

The total estimated institutional value of the seizure is $89,185, CSC said in a press release on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020.

“CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions,” CSC said.
