Over $50,000 raised by 2019 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

A record number of participants were ‘freezin’ for a reason” at the 8th Annual Polar Plunge, raising a record amount, over $50,000, for a good cause. Kingston Police and Ontario Provincial Police, in partnership with the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run, hosted the 2019 Kingston Polar Plunge at Crawford Dock in Confederation Basin on Sunday, February 3rd, to raise awareness and funds for athletes and families of Special Olympics Ontario.

2019 was, by far, the Polar Plunge’s most successful year. In 2018, 81 participants took the Polar Plunge and raised $33,250, and in 2017, its previously most successful year, 85 plungers raised $46,750. Over $205,000 has been raised by the event for the Special Olympics since the Polar Plunge’s inception in 2013.
