Over 24K raised during YMCA’s 2021 Walk, Run & Roll Challenge

The YMCA of Eastern Ontario’s 100 km Walk, Run & Roll Challenge ran for two weeks and ended on August 9, 2021. Participants raised a total of $24,015 for the YMCA’s Financial Assistance Program. The program provides access to healthy programs, safe spaces and inclusive social connections to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it.
The Challenge ran for the first time in 2020 in response to the lack of activities during the COVID pandemic. It provided an opportunity for participants to get active and raise money to provide access to healthy programs, safe spaces and positive social interactions for many in our communities, according to a release from the YMCA, dated Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021.
“I’d like to express our gratitude to everyone who participated, who supported and who sponsored our challenge,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “The pandemic has increased the need for access to healthy programs for both mental and physical health, and our community has risen to help fill this need.”
