OPP seize prohibited weapon after stopping erratic driver in Odessa

A vehicle being driven in an erratic manner caught the attention of officers of the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on general patrol over the weekend.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 5, 2022, officers observed the erratic motor vehicle driving on Potter Drive in Odessa. According to a release from the OPP, officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found the driver to have a suspended licence. The driver made an attempt to flee the scene and was subsequently arrested.

Officers seized a prohibited weapon, as well as several cannabis products.

As a result, L&A County OPP have charged Tayesha Mackinnon, age 29, of Loyalist Township, with:

  • Possession of Prohibited Device for Dangerous Purpose;
  • Resist Peace Officer;
  • Driving While Under Suspension;
  • Driver Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt; and
  • Have Care or Control of Vehicle with Cannabis in Open Baggage.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in May 2022.
