OPP seeking public assistance after robbery using imitation of a police vehicle

OPP are asking for the public’s assistance after a robbery in North Frontenac using a vehicle allegedly made to appear like a police vehicle.On August 30, 2019 shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a robbery that occurred on Ardoch Road near Browns Lane in North Frontenac Township.

The police investigation has revealed that the victim pulled over for a vehicle he believed had flashing emergency lights. The victim says a male approached his vehicle and claimed to have a weapon before making a demand for his wallet.

After taking the wallet, the male left in a vehicle described as a dark coloured SUV.

There are no descriptors of the male nor was a weapon observed by the victim. Police are treating this incident very seriously and remind motorists if you have concerns that it may not be a legitimate police vehicle, to call 9-1-1 immediately. A call taker will confirm that an officer is attempting to stop you and or will provide you with instructions to follow if otherwise.
