According to the Ontario Provincial Police, 24-year-old Stephen Reid of Ireland has been located and arrested.
“On September 2, 2022, the accused was located in Toronto and taken into custody,” police said in a press release. The OPP had issued a request for public assistance in locating the wanted man earlier that day, Friday, Sept. 2, 2022. Reid was wanted on four charges of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, police said at the time.
In response to inquiries from Kingstonist, Provincial Constable Joe Tereschuk said he was unable to share whether Reid was located with the assistance of information provided by the public, “as it is now a matter before the courts.
“I can’t give details regarding the investigation,” Const. Terechuk said. “He was located through police investigation.”
Terechuck indicated that, following his arrest, Reid was held in custody over Labour Day weekend to appear for a bail hearing this week.
Prior to his arrest, Reid had last been seen in Tay Valley Township, just over 80 km north of Kingston, near Perth, Ontario.

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a wanted man, who was last seen in Tay Valley Township near Perth, Ontario.
The accused man, 24-year-old Stephen Reid, is wanted on multiple charges related to sexual offences against minors, the OPP said in a press release on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022. Reid is charged with four counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age.
While Reid is a resident of Ireland, he was last seen on Bolingbroke Road in Tay Valley Township on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 31, 2022. His current whereabouts are unknown, police said.
Reid is described as standing approximately 5’9” (175 cm) tall and weighing 140 lbs (64 kg), with a slim build, red hair, and a moustache and goatee. He speaks with an Irish accent and may also have a black duffel bag and a full-sized hard plastic suitcase with him, according to the OPP.
Police advise members of the public not to approach or attempt to approach Reid if he is seen. Anyone with information regarding the possible whereabouts of Reid, or anyone who may see him, is asked to contact the Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
