OPP seek assistance to identify person of interest after incident in Newburgh

 The Lennox and Addington (L&A) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is requesting assistance from members of the public to help identify a person of interest.

The person in question is a white male, approximately 70 years of age, who was seen in a suspicious vehicle – a white pickup truck – in Newburgh. Specifically, the vehicle in question was travelling near the area of Academy Street and Main Street in Newburgh between the hours of 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jul. 2, 2022, according to the OPP. The driver approached two young people during that time, attempting to engage them in a conversation, the OPP said in a press release on Thursday, Jul. 7, 2022.

The OPP are requesting that anyone who may have been in the area and saw the vehicle and/or driver contact the L&A OPP. Additionally, the OPP are asking that anyone who may have security footage in the area also contact police.

According to the OPP, the investigation into the person of interest and suspicious vehicle is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.

Anyone who may have information as to the identity of the male driver is asked to contact the L&A County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. 

Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS), where tipsters may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000. Alternatively, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
