OPP searching for person in apparent abduction attempt at Napanee Fair

Officers from the Lennox & Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest after receiving a report of a male that had approached a 12-year-old female at the Napanee fair midway.
“At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, a suspicious male walked up and grabbed the female’s arm and started to lead her away from the midway. They were walking towards the agricultural buildings when the young female pulled free from the male and ran to the nearest people for safety,” OPP said in a press release the following day.
The suspect is described by police as an overweight white male, approximately 50 years of age, balding with short dark hair, approximately 5’10” tall. Police say he wearing a black shirt and orange shorts at the time of the incident.
Police are looking to speak to this person of interest and the investigation remains ongoing.
