OPP recover stolen Central Frontenac Township vehicle

Members of the Frontenac and Prince Edward detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person and recovered a Central Frontenac Township vehicle, but are continuing to investigate the theft and chain of events that occurred after the vehicle was stolen.
According to the OPP, the investigation started in the early morning of Sunday, Jul. 28, 2019 when the vehicle was reported stolen from a location in Prince Edward County. Later the same day, the OPP received reports that the vehicle was found in the Sharbot Lake area and was being damaged by a person with a weapon. The OPP were also informed that a woman had been assaulted by the suspect involved.
Due to the presence of a weapon, the OPP began a search utilizing the OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team, and the OPP helicopter. This effort lead to the location and arrest of a suspect several hours later in Frankton.
As a result, a 30-year-old man from Perth has been charged with mischief over $5,000, assault, and assault with a weapon. The name of the suspect is not being released in order to protect the identity of the assault victim.
