A motorist contacted police via 911 at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jul. 14, 2021, while travelling westbound on Highway 401 in Loyalist Township. They reported feeling unsafe and felt they were being followed by another vehicle.

According to a release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the complainant drove to the L&A County OPP detachment in Greater Napanee and the suspect vehicle did follow the complainant from the highway and all the way to the OPP detachment parking lot where officers met with both parties.

During the course of the investigation into the incident, officers determined that the suspect vehicle had, in fact, been reported stolen from the GTA in June, OPP said.

Ramanpreet Singh, age 27, of Vaughan, was arrested and has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in September 2021.

Is it possible to find out why the driver of the stolen vehicle was following the person in the first vehicle? Was there any relationship between them?

We’d love to know! Must have been a reason if he drove a stolen car onto a police station parking lot!
