Two individuals are facing possession charges after a traffic stop uncovers a hockey bag full of marijuana near Greater Napanee.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 19, 2021, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol and noticed a vehicle travelling in an erratic manner on Hwy 401 westbound near Greater Napanee.
According to a release from OPP, dated Friday, Apr. 23, 2021, police initiated a traffic stop and determined that marijuana was readily available within the vehicle. During the course of the investigation officers located a hockey bag full of Marijuana and a large quantity of cash, OPP said. Both the driver and passenger were arrested and transported to detachment for processing. Police said they seized approximately 16 pounds of Marijuana and nearly $12,000.00 in cash.
As a result of the investigation Annie Tomei, age 23 of Oakville and Andrew Storms, age 29, of Aurora have been charged with:
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000. contrary to the Criminal Code; and,
- Possession for the purpose of distributing contrary to the Cannabis Act
Both accused are released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in June 2021.
