OPP lay multiple charges thanks to overly tinted windows

A traffic stop for obscured windows led to multiple charges for three individuals.

At approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on highway 401 eastbound and observed tinted windows on a vehicle that caused the interior to be obscured.    

Officers initiated a traffic stop which, after investigation, revealed that the car had expired plates and the vehicle was not insured, according to a release from OPP dated Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021.   

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP has charged:

Tarandeep Singh Jaggi, age 21, of Brampton, with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – (Heroin),
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance,
  • Colour coating obscuring interior, and;
  • Drive motor vehicle with no currently validated permit.

Surjeet Sing Lally, age 49, of Brampton with:

  • Possession of a stolen credit card,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime,
  • Possession of an identity document,
  • Fail to comply with Probation, and;
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – (Methamphetamine).

Shangharsa Paudel, age 26, of Cambridge with:

  • Fail to comply with Probation, and;
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – (Heroin) .  

All accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in March 2021.
