OPP lay impaired driving, stunt driving charges in Napanee

After a traffic stop for speeding, a Scarborough man is facing multiple charges, including having open alcohol in the vehicle.
At approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol and observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 eastbound near the Greater Napanee exit.
According to a release from OPP, dated Wednesday, Mar. 3, 2021, police initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.
As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged Vincent Lewis, age 25, of Scarborough with:
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug;
- Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit;
- Stunt Driving;
- Driving while under suspension; and
- Drive motor vehicle with open container of Liquor.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in May, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Lewis will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
