OPP lay impaired driving charge in Verona

A report of a possible impaired driver on Road 38 in South Frontenac Township on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021 results in an impaired driving charge for a Central Frontenac driver.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. officers of the South Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of the possible impaired driver travelling southbound on Road 38.

According to a release from OPP, police located the suspect vehicle on Road 38 in Verona and initiated a traffic stop. A Roadside Screening Device was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to Frontenac Detachment for further testing, OPP said.

As a result of the investigation, Frontenac OPP have arrested and charged Delbert Gibson, age 61, of Central Frontenac Township with operation while impaired. 

Gibson was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston in November 2021. Their licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Gibson will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
