OPP lay charges after sex assault investigation

A North Frontenac man is facing charges after members of the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a sex assault investigation involving a minor.
In July of 2022, officers received reports of a sexual assault at a trailer park in North Frontenac, according to a release from the OPP.
As a result of the investigation, Paul Downer, 70 years old, from North Frontenac Township, has been charged with the following offences:
- Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
- Sexual interference
Anyone with information regarding this or any other incident is asked to call the Frontenac OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or online at www.opp.ca/reporting. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where callers may be eligible to receive a cash reward.
In response to Kingstonist inquires, OPP said that the accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
“The investigation is ongoing and officers would encourage anyone that may have been a victim to report it to police,” OPP said.
