OPP lay 20+ charges after warrants executed in South Frontenac, Kingston and Loyalist Township
On Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, three Controlled Drugs and Substances Warrants were executed across three different cities and townships.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers with the Community Street Crime Unit of Napanee and South Frontenac worked simultaneously in a joint investigation with Kingston Police Force, executing the warrants, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of drugs and firearms, as well as over 20 charges laid against three different people.
The majority of the seizures and charges took place in South Frontenac Township. There, on Fairhaven Lane, officers located two loaded firearms, one of which was stolen, and also seized a quantity of hash and ecstasy. Charges were laid against Mark Silva, 47, and Wendy Wood, 46, both of South Frontenac.
Silva is charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
- Breach of a firearm regulation (x2)
- Knowledge of the unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
- Possession of a loaded firearm (x2)
- Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
- Producing a schedule 2 substance
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance
- Possession of a schedule 2 substance
- Possession of a schedule 3 substance
- Possession of a prohibited device
- Failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking
He was held for a bail hearing in Napanee.
Wood is charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
- Breach of a firearm regulation (x2)
- Knowledge of the unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
- Possession of a loaded firearm (x2)
- Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
- Producing a schedule 2 substance
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance
- Possession of a schedule 2 substance
- Possession of a schedule 3 substance
- Possession of a prohibited device
She was released on a promise to appear with a first appearance date of Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston.
Here in Kingston, Kingston Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Warrant on Conservatory Drive in the city’s west end. James Fitzgerald, 47, of Kingston is charged with possession of a schedule 2 substance.
A third Controlled Drugs and Substances warrant was executed in Loyalist Township, however no charges were laid.
