OPP issue warrant for man involved in armed robbery in Leeds County

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have issued an arrest warrant for one man, who, along with another man and a woman, were involved in an armed robbery in Leeds County.

Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the armed robbery, which occurred at about 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.

According to a release from OPP, dated Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, Leeds County officers received reports of an unwanted person call in progress at a residential address on County Road 2, Elizabethtown Township. Information was received that two males and one female entered a residence armed with edged weapons. According to OPP, police attended but were unable to locate the suspects. One male was identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. 

John Poole, 29 years old from Athens, Ontario is wanted for:

  • Armed robbery
  • Forcible confinement
  • Uttering threats, cause death or bodily harm
  • Disguise with intent
  • Unlawfully in dwelling house
  • Extortion
  • Assault with a weapon

Poole is described as 6’0, 175 pounds with short dark hair.

The other suspects are described as:

  • Male, approximately 5’10, 180 pounds, average build with brown/grey hair, possibly in his 40’s.
  • Female, approximately 5’9, 200 pounds with blonde two toned hair.
