OPP investigating illegal sharing of revealing youth photos

Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating reports of several young people that shared revealing photos of a young person.
According to a release from the OPP, information was gathered on Wednesday, Apr. 20, 2022, and with the assistance of the Prince Edward County Crime Unit, the investigation remains ongoing. Investigators believe these photos may have been shared with other individuals and are asking anyone with information to contact Prince Edward County OPP’s Detective Constable Jason Chin-Leung at 1-888-310-1122 or 613-476-2151.
The OPP is reminding parents, guardians and other caregivers to be aware and have conversations regarding their children’s online activities. “Sharing intimate photos of someone underage is illegal,” OPP said. “This content is considered child pornography and parents are reminded to have these discussions to ensure children are not in receipt or possession of these images. With technology changing at a rapid pace, it is crucial everyone stays up to date with applications and their abilities.”
