OPP investigating fatal vehicle collision in Gananoque

Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision.    

According to a release from OPP, on Tuesday, Mar. 23, 2021 just before 12:30 p.m., OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 32 at Hetu Road, Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township. A witness reported that the southbound vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert in the east ditch, resulting in the vehicle catching fire, OPP said.

Leeds and the Thousand Islands Fire Department, Gananoque Fire Department and EMS all responded to the collision.

The driver, Roy Goodrich, an 83 year old from Seeleys Bay was the vehicle’s only occupant and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Collision Reconstructionist. A post mortem is being conducted.
