OPP investigating fatal collision involving pedestrian in Tweed

The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a tractor trailer.

On January 24, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 37 in the Municipality of Tweed. According to the OPP, the initial investigation indicated a pedestrian was struck by a transport truck while walking southbound along the shoulder. Prior to the collision, the individual’s vehicle became stuck in a nearby ditch, police said in a press release later the same day. 

The pedestrian, Randy Hilton, 37 years old, of Roslin, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and Reconstructionist are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
