OPP investigating collision that closed Highway 401 for over five hours

In the early hours of Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, a collision between a vehicle and a transport truck near Highway 15 on Highway 401 caused a fire and subsequent road closure.
At 12:30 a.m. on the above date, Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fully engulfed transport truck on Highway 401 near Highway 15, according to a release from OPP. Investigation revealed a vehicle, travelling the wrong way on the highway, struck the transport truck.
The driver of the other motor vehicle was seen fleeing on foot. OPP K9 Unit and the Emergency Response Team attended and performed a search with negative results, according to the release. The area was closed for over five hours as the vehicles were removed and the road was cleaned up.

The transport truck driver did not sustain any injuries. OPP said the investigation is ongoing, and police would like to hear from any witnesses who may have information related to this incident.
