OPP investigating attempted arson in South Frontenac Township

The Frontenac County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating an attempted arson that occurred in the County, and are asking for assistance from anyone who may have pertinent information.
According to police, the Frontenac OPP received reports of the attempted arson just after 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023. Officers responded to a commercial building on George Street in Sydenham and found “evidence that a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the building, causing damage to a window and the steel exterior,” the OPP said. Currently, the Frontenac OPP Crime Unit is investigating, and those in the area reported that the building in question was taped off by police, who were on scene at the building throughout the day Thursday.
“OPP believe this incident occurred on February 15, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m.,” the OPP said in a press release on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.
“OPP Forensic Identification Services attended to assist. The Ontario Fire Marshall and local fire department were also notified.”
