OPP investigating armed robbery in Elgin

Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Leeds County Crime Unit are currently investigating an armed robbery that occured on Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2021 in Elgin, Ontario.

Just after 2:00 p.m., on the date above, officers and members of the Emergency Response Team responded to a business on Water Street in Elgin where a robbery was reported to have occurred. According to a release from OPP, a masked male entered the location, brandishing a suspected firearm, demanding cash. The victim was assaulted and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’9″, stocky build, wearing a dark coloured hoodie with a hood, blue jeans a black cloth face mask and medical booties over his boots. OPP say the suspect fled on foot with a stolen orange Echo CS310 chainsaw and undisclosed amount of cash.
