OPP: Four people charged with stunt driving in Kingston in one day

Although only one of the accused men is a Kingston resident, four men were charged in relation to stunt driving within the city on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

According to the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a total of six individuals were charged with stunt driving over the course of the weekend. The following are those cases that occurred in Kingston:

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, an OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 near Division Street. That officer stropped a vehicle travelling 53 km/h over the speed limit. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Peterborough, was charged with stunt driving. His vehicle and licence were seized for seven days and he was given a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Kingston at a future date to answer to the charge.

A couple of hours later, just before 12:20 p.m., an officer conduction speed enforcement on Perth Road near Spooner Road stopped a vehicle travelling 61 km/h over the speed limit. The driver, a 24-year-old Kingston man, was charged with stunt driving. His vehicle and licence were seized for seven days and he was given a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Kingston at a future date to answer to the charge.

Then, shortly before 2 p.m., an officer conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 east of Highway 15 stopped a vehicle travelling 54 km/h over the speed limit. The 22-year-old male driver from Ottawa was charged with stunt driving. His vehicle and licence were seized for seven days and he was given a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Kingston at a future date to answer to the charge.

Lastly, just before 3:30 p.m., an officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 near Montreal Street. That officer stopped a vehicle travelling 55 km/h over the speed limit. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Ottawa, was charged with stunt driving. His vehicle and licence were seized for seven days and he was given a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Kingston at a future date to answer to the charge.

The other two stunt driving charges laid by Frontenac OPP over the weekend occurred in Frontenac County.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, an officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 7 near Arden Road in Arden, Central Frontenac Township. The officer stopped a vehicle travelling at 53 km/h over the speed limit. The 19-year-old driver from Midland, Ont. was charged with stunt driving. His vehicle and licence were seized for seven days and he was given a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Sharbot Lake at a future date to answer to the charge.

Then, on Sunday, May 5, 2019, just before 11 a.m., an officer was conducting speed enforcement in on Highway 7 near Wilmack Road in Mountain Grove, Central Frontenac Township. That officer stopped a vehicle travelling 61 km/h over the speed limit. The driver, a 29-year-old woman from Kitchener, was charged with stunt driving. Her vehicle and licence were seized for seven days and she was given a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Sharbot Lake at a future date to answer to the charge.
